Abrahams Dresden is a progressive commercial law firm committed to delivering exceptional client service and practical, commercially focused legal advice. We predominantly advise owner-managed businesses and SMEs, building long-term relationships with clients who value legal advice as a genuine commercial asset.
Whilst we have a particular specialism within the healthcare sector, our work encompasses the full range of commercial legal issues, including corporate transactions, commercial contracts, employment matters and property work. As a result, trainees gain broad and transferable experience whilst working on sophisticated and often high-value matters. Recent instructions have included multi-million-pound business sales involving deferred consideration arrangements, completion accounts and complex transaction negotiations.
We recruit two trainees each year and generally interview and hire in March for a September start date.
Training Contract Programme
Our training contracts are structured around three core seats:
-
Corporate - including mergers and acquisitions, business sales and purchases, shareholder matters, commercial agreements and our specialist healthcare and dental sector work;
-
Litigation - encompassing a broad range of commercial disputes and contentious matters; and
-
Commercial Property - including acquisitions and disposals, lease negotiations and property aspects of corporate transactions.
In addition to these core practice areas, trainees will have opportunities to gain exposure to Wills & Probate and Matrimonial work, providing valuable insight into private client practice and helping to develop a broader understanding of the legal profession.
Our training programme is designed to provide a genuinely rounded experience. Trainees are encouraged to take on meaningful responsibility from an early stage, with levels of responsibility trailered to each individual's ability and development. Regular supervision and ongoing support are provided by the Training Partner, who closely monitors progress throughout the training contract.
We place significant emphasis on commercial awareness. We are looking for future solicitors who can identify the issues that genuinely matter to clients, think strategically and contribute practical solutions, rather than simply applying legal principles in isolation.
Our culture combines high standards with a sensible approach to working life. We are committed to delivering excellent outcomes for our clients, but we do not believe in a culture of unnecessary presenteeism. We value professionalism, efficiency and teamwork, whilst maintaining a supportive and enjoyable working environment. Alongside the day-to-day demands of practice, we regularly organise firm-wide social events and activities throughout the year.
Where possible our trainees are recruited with a view to long-term retention. We invest heavily in training and development and, wherever possible, seek to offer qualified positions to trainees who demonstrate the ability, commitment and commercial mindset that underpin our firm's success. This commitment to developing talent is reflected in the careers of many of our lawyers, including two of our current partners, who began their careers with the firm as trainees.
We look for candidates who can demonstrate:
-
Strong academic achievement;
-
Drive, ambition and commitment;
-
Independence and initiative;
-
Creative and commercial thinking;
-
Evidence and personal achievement; and
-
The personality and interpersonal skills required to build lasting client relationships.

Trainee testimonials
Amy McFarland: “Probably the best thing that I can say about the firm is that I enjoy each day as it comes and I never get that Monday morning feeling. On a more practical note, I would say that I enjoy far more client contact than I would have expected. Also, I enjoy and benefit from working closely with the senior fee earner with whom I am working on any particular job.”
Jasmine Sudworth: “As a trainee at Abrahams Dresden, I have had the opportunity to be involved in a diverse range of work, from attending client meetings, to advising on redundancy payments, to applying for civil restraint orders. This month I have also spent a whole week in the central London family court assisting in a multi-million pound divorce!”
Employment Opportunities
As a young, dynamic and expanding firm of solicitors, we are always on the lookout for enthusiastic, highly motivated and bright candidates at all levels of qualification and in every discipline.
If you would like to join the team please send a CV and covering letter by email to Keely Durrant.
